Below is a Roll of Irishmen who lost their lives while serving with the Royal Navy during World War 1. Listed are those who gave their place of birth as Ireland when enrolling into the navy. The Roll contains the names of those who died serving at home and throughout the world.
Because the bodies of many Royal Navy personnel who died at sea could not be recovered for burial a memorial was built at the three major naval ports to commemorate those who lost their lives at sea. These memorials were built at:
- Chatham.
- Portsmouth.
- Plymouth.
Many Irishmen are commemorated on these memorials, I have included more information on each memorial further down the page.
