Identifying Irish Scout Badges

It can be difficult to identify Irish Scout badges especially those with old Gaelic text. Various symbols were used to represent letters of the Gaelic alphabet, the image above shows what these symbols translate to when using the modern alphabet. Most online translators will translate the text on a badge reasonably accurately when the modern equivalent is used.

Scouting Ireland Badges

The Scouting Ireland (S.I.) Uniform link on the left contains badges worn on the uniform. Scouting Ireland use the Scout Logo with a shamrock in the centre. The S.I. Logo is used on most S.I. badges produced after 2010 when the ONE programme was introduced, between 2004 and 2010 they mainly used the World Scout Logo.
